Legislative Program

BANNER

We're watching out for your business interests in Albany! The NYS BPA has a full-time legislative lobbyist that keeps track of legislation and other regulatory actions that may have an impact on the operation of your bowling center.

Arthur "Jerry" Kremer is a 23-year veteran of the New York State Assembly and former Chairman of the Ways and Means Committee. He founded Empire Government Strategies based in Uniondale with offices in Albany. EGS is co-managed by Anthony Figliola, former Deputy Supervisor to one of the nation's largest municipal governments.

We work with lawmakers on alcohol beverage, insurance and sales tax issues, just to name a few. We provided input on changes in the SLA Laws by participating in meetings with the NYS Law Revision Commission.

We are very proud of our efforts to defeat a proposed sales tax on bowling in March 2009. Thanks to Mr. Kremer and Mr. Figliola's influence, a dedicated Legislative Committee and motivated proprietors and bowlers, an attempt to raise revenue for the state by taxing bowling was stricken from the budget negotiations, thus saving all proprietors thousands of dollars!

For more information on Empire State Government Strategies go to their website: www.empiregovernmentstrategies.com.

The NYS BPA also has a Political Action Committee whose funds are used solely to support legislators that are small business-friendly. We suggest contributions in the amount of $10 per lane but will certainly be appreciative of any dollar amount contributed! Click here for a contribution form. Checks (corporate checks are acceptable) should be made payable to NYS BPA PAC and sent to NYS BPA, 435 New Karner Road, Albany, NY 12205. Please be advised that political contributions are not taxable for federal income tax purposes.
